Ad Gefrin Distillery
We were delighted to be asked to develop the brand for an exciting new whisky distillery in Wooler, Northumberland. Wooler is situated a short distance from ‘Ad Gefrin’. In the 7th century, Ad Gefrin was the site of the Royal Palace of the Northumbrian King, Edwin. Heritage and romance combine to create a memorable, engaging brand, ‘Ad Gefrin Distillery’. From the outset we wanted the brand to tap into this rich and important local history, and have a distinct flavour of the ‘Insular Art’ of the period. Also, ‘Ad Gefrin’ literally means, ‘At the hill of goats’, so a goat in there somewhere seemed a good place to start. Once we had the branding sorted, we needed a positioning, and what better than ‘Spirit of a Kingdom’.
